Midday today marked the beginning of Melbourne Spring Fashion Week and with the Spring Racing Carnival just around the corner, David Jones stole the runway with this years amazing race wear by designers such as Willow, Camilla and Marc, Thurley, Carla Zampatti, Josh Goot and Zimmerman, just to name a few.

Knee length hemlines, cap sleeves and cinched in waists seemed to be a winning dress trend and the matching suit was a hit in floral prints and rich colours.
Mary Katrantzou printed dress and Fiona Powell striped hat
Thurley floral print suit and Morgan & Taylor flower headband
Colours that will be seen all over the race track this season are bright vibrant colours such as turquoise, fuchsia and tangerine and softer pastels.
Camilla and Marc neon tangerine dress with Gregory Ladner purple and green floral
Prints were bold, one in particular that caught my eye was an under the sea print on a dress by Scanlon and Theodore. Floral print was predominant and lace gave a feminine touch.

Headwear gave a ‘Great Gatsby’ vibe, modernised with embellishments, scarves and bright colours.
Lover black and white print suit, white lace blouses and Max Alexander black cloche
Steer clear of silk or suede shoes and stick to patent shoes as they are easier to clean and won’t stain.

I can’t wait until Wednesday when I attend Runway 2 of the Designer Series. Watch this Space. x
